- Engine oil at the viscosity and specification the manufacturer requires
- Oil filter
- Fluid level check: coolant, brake fluid, screen wash
- Tyre pressures checked and set
- Disposal of the old oil and filter
- Entry in the service book
What the price does not include
- Air filter, cabin filter and fuel filter. We change them on request at the same visit and tell you the price before we do.
- The special oils some engines require. We check the requirement against the registration and tell you the price in advance.
- Repairing an oil leak, if one turns up during the change.
When this work becomes due
Most manufacturers give the oil change interval in kilometres or in months, whichever comes first. A common interval is 15 000 km or 12 months.
City driving uses oil faster than motorway driving. Short trips never bring the engine to working temperature, so fuel and water condense into the oil and do not evaporate out again. In the Helsinki region that describes most cars, so the interval is worth keeping shorter than the handbook maximum.
The dipstick only tells you so much. Dark oil is not bad oil, because collecting dirt is what it is for. A dropping level between two changes is the more useful observation, and it is worth mentioning to us.
The wrong viscosity or the wrong specification does not show up straight away. It shows up years later in the particulate filter, the turbo and the chain tensioner. So we look the oil up in the manufacturer's table against the registration, rather than using whatever is on the shelf.
A new car's warranty survives an oil change done outside the franchised dealer. The conditions are that the work follows the manufacturer's instruction and that it is recorded in the service book. We do both.
If we find something else
We do not start work you do not know about. If we find something beyond what was agreed, we call and tell you what it costs and what happens if it is left undone. You decide.
A fixed price does not change without your permission. If we cannot reach you within a reasonable time, the law allows us up to 150 € of minor and necessary additional work.
We work to the motor vehicle service and repair terms approved by the consumer advisory board of the Finnish motor trade.
