Suspension repair

Control arms, ball joints, track rod ends, shock absorbers and bearings. We check the suspension on the lift and tell you the price before anything is replaced.

Price against the registration

We do not publish a single price for this job, because it depends on the engine. Give us the registration and we quote a fixed price before we agree a time.

What the price includes

What the price includes

  • Suspension check on the lift: joints, bushes, dampers and bearings gone through by hand
  • A clear list of what must be replaced now and what will still keep
  • A price for every item before work starts, parts and labour itemised
  • Replaced parts shown on request

What the price does not include

  • Wheel alignment. When it is needed we have it done by a partner and price it separately, because after control arms or track rods an alignment is often necessary.
  • Lowering and tuning parts. We repair to standard condition.
  • Rust damage at the body mounting points. That is body repair, and we say so plainly if we find it.

When this work becomes due

Suspension is the commonest reason a car fails the Finnish inspection. That is no accident: salted roads and frost-heaved streets wear joints and bushes faster than in warmer countries. So the suspension is worth checking before the inspection, not after it.

A suspension fault is heard and felt before it is seen. A knock over speed bumps, a creak when turning, vibration in the steering wheel or wandering in road ruts are the usual signs. None of them alone says which part is worn. Only the lift and a check by hand say that.

A loose joint is not just an inspection matter. It lengthens the braking distance, wears the tyres unevenly, and if it fails it can take the steering with it. So we always sort the findings into two groups: what safety requires replacing now, and what only needs watching.

Shock absorbers wear so slowly that the driver never notices the change. The rule of thumb is a check by 100 000 km at the latest. Dampers are always replaced in pairs on the same axle, because a new and a tired damper side by side make the car unpredictable.

The price depends on what the lift shows, so we do not publish a single figure for suspension work. The check comes first, the price second, and the decision is yours. If you bring the inspection fault list, we price straight from its lines.

If we find something else

We do not start work you do not know about. If we find something beyond what was agreed, we call and tell you what it costs and what happens if it is left undone. You decide.

Once we have seen the car we give you a fixed price. After that it does not change without your permission.

We work to the motor vehicle service and repair terms approved by the consumer advisory board of the Finnish motor trade.
